On August 22, a Lithuania-United Arab Emirates (UAE) Business Forum took place in Vilnius. During the event, representatives from Lithuania and the UAE had the opportunity not only to know more about the economies of both countries and explore cooperation opportunities, but also to participate in B2B business meetings. Representatives of the Lithuania-UAE Business Council, established under the Association of Lithuanian Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Crafts also took part in the forum.
On the same day, the first session of the Joint Economic Commission between the Republic of Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates was held. Mr. Vidas Butkus, Chairman of the Lithuania-UAE Business Council and Vice President of the Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Crafts, was invited to attend and speak at the event. In his speech, the chairman of the newly established business council emphasized the importance of promoting cooperation between Lithuania and the UAE and the role of the newly established Lithuania-UAE Business Council in fostering mutual collaboration between the two countries. Mr. Vidas Butkus also met with H.E. Humaid M. Ben Salem, a representative of the UAE Chamber of Commerce Federation and a member of the UAE-Lithuania Business Council, with whom he discussed the mutual work of the Lithuania-UAE Business Council and the upcoming meeting scheduled for November 2024 in Sharjah, UAE.
