    Kaunas, February 23, 2024 – His Excellency Ambassador Davesh Uttam, accompanied by a delegation, made a historic visit to Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts. This marked the first visit by an Indian Ambassador to Kaunas since the establishment of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Vilnius in 2023.

    Upon arrival, Ambassador Devesh Uttam and Attaché Surendra Mishra Suman were warmly welcomed by Zigmantas Dargevičius, President of the Kaunas Chamber, Industry and Crafts, and Olga Grigienė, General Director.

    During the visit, the activities of Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts as well as the broader economic landscape of the Kaunas region, has been presented to the delegation members. Discussions centered on key sectors, successfully growing industries, regional infrastructure and the investment climate of Kaunas region. 

    Central to the discussions were the priorities and potential avenues for enhancing bilateral relations between Lithuania and the Republic of India.

    Ambassador Davesh Uttam expressed a keen interest in technology, logistics, life sciences, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

    To have a full – scale discussion, business representatives from these sectors were invited to participate in the dialogue. They shared insights into their current endeavors within the Indian market and discussed future collaboration opportunities. 

    Recognizing a big potential for cooperation, both sides agreed to start exchanging the relevant information and bilateral inquiries to deepen economic cooperation and foster mutually beneficial partnerships between both countries.

    Zigmantas Dargevičius, the President of the Kaunas Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, highlighted that there are many opportunities for Lithuanian businesses in the Indian market. He expressed an expectation that this visit will encourage collaboration and strengthen the bilateral ties between the Republic of India and Lithuania.
