    INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

    “DIGITALIZATION OF ECONOMY, REMOTE WORK AND OTHER CHALLENGES – HOW WE ARE DEALING IN LITHUANIA AND EUROPE?”

     

     Conference date: 25-th September 2024;

    Place: Lihuanian national M.Mazvydas library, Gedimino av. 51, the hall 305;

    Participants: Lithuanian politicians, scientists, representatives of business and trade unions, SME representatives and SME association representatives from 7 European countries.

    Languages: conference will be held in lithuanian and english languages with interpretation to english.

    Conference themes to discuss, contexts of the challenges

    All we know existing labour related set up of the institutions, legal regulations, social partners activities. Both on national level, as well at the European level. Hewer,  modern economy and post-COVID time is characterized by set of challenges. Those are – Remote work, Artificial intelligence, process of  Digitalization, utmost importance of Skill development, etc. We calculated 8 of them. That is why we call Octopus of challenges influencing modern labour relations. Although the challenges are relevant for the entire economy, but for individual segments of the economy – traditional industry, “new economy”, etc. causes somewhat different consequences, which is why it is very important to hear the sectoral approach to new issues of labor market functioning and new regulation.

    The aim of the conference – to discuss modern challenges to the labour relations, speaking more brodly – to the labour relations regulations, and what need to be done and changed to acknowlegde challenges and to reflect neccessary changes.

    10.00 – 10.05 Opening of the conference: moderator’s introduction to conference topic;

    10.05-10.15 Welcoming words and speech of the head of EU representative office in LT Marius Vaščėga: “Response of the European Commision and European institutions to the challenges of modern world: digitalization, remote work, artificial intelligence, etc.”

    10.15 – 11.15 Traditional economy and expansion of “new economy” – if there is neccessity for new regulation, the role of social partners in the context of the new economy;
