VET

The main functions of Kaunas CCIC Department of Vocational Education are:

  • Assessing competencies of formal vocational education and training (VET)
  • Organizing projects related to vocational education and social partnerships

The role of social partners is especially important in seeking to ensure excellence in vocational education and fulfil the requirements of the job market. The role of employers in the field of vocational education was formalised in the 1997 Act of Vocational Education (ratified on September 1, 2011).

Between 2012 and 2016, the Department of Vocational Education carried out an assessment of formal VET competencies for 209 different qualifications. Kaunas CCIC was authorized to assess VET competencies by the Ministry of Education and Science; first accreditation authorised in May 30, 2012 for 165 qualifications. In the last four years, 26064 students graduated from primary VET programs, 12505 more from further VET programs. The performance scores of VET program graduates are registered in the Ministry’s database.
